1 JOHN CARTER I, b. 1720-30 and is “from” NJ, d. 1811 in Greene Co. TN. May have had brothers who
emigrated with him from NJ to TN: Caleb, Joseph, and
Levi. (Levi was born in Wales). Owned parcels of
land on Lick
Creek. We have the inventory of his estate taken by Daniel Carter on Tuesday,
January
28, 1812; the sale was held on Feb 7, 1812; the
report was written April 27, 1812; final settlement on
Oct 26, 1814 by Daniel with court acceptance on Aug
27, 1814. This estate sale is what we use to
establish John’s death date in 1811.
