My side of the Carter family has searched many years to determine the parents of Rowland Carter I believe that I have found the Mother of Rowland Carter as well as established that Solomon Carter of Bell County was Solomon’s brother.

Since there appears to be no direct connection with the male line of Isaac Carter I can make a very strong circumstantial case that Isaac’s daughter Rhoda was the mother. So far the documentation I have is that Rhoda lived with Angelina Carter, and then moved with her when she married Alan Honeycutt. I have located the death record for Angelina where her mother is identified as Rhoda Carter. The bad news is that the father was listed as unknown. I can so far locate no marriage record for Rhoda Carter. The 1830 census and 1840 census show Rhoda Carter the wife of Isaac Carter as head of household. In both census’s there are male children that match the ages of Rowland and Solomon and a female that matches the age of her daughter Rhoda. I have been able to account for all the children of the other Carters living in Knox County these two are not children of any of the other children of Isaac Carter. Also Rowland lives either next to or very closely to many members of Isaac Carters family. At the present time I am leaning towards a Willis Carter as possibly being the father of Rowland.

The information shown below is a work in process and has not been edited for publication; I am still working on documentation and know there are spelling errors. If anyone has information concerning this line they would like to share, I would appreciate any documentation that you may have. I hope that this information will help some of us in tracing our lines.
