Caroline Katherine Methina Haslop, daughter of Frederich Heinrich and Sophia Grote Haslop was born in Chicago March 1, 1873 and was baptized March 30 1873 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Chicago, Cook County, IL, USA. The sponsors at her baptism where Methina Hartjen and Catherine Tenick. Katie's mother died on June 13, 1873 in Chicago and her father remarried Ferdinanda Henning. Henry served in the 13th Illinois Calvary and was injured and received a disabilty discharge when he was thrown from his horse.
